The ECB says euro area firms widely reported a further net increase in bank loan interest rates (net 46%, up from 42%), with large firms reporting increases more often than SMEs. It also reports a decline in bank loan availability (net -5%) that exceeded the decline in firms' needs, widening the financing gap.

  • Survey on the Access to Finance of Enterprises: lending conditions tightened 2026-10-26 · central bank · one of several topics in this statement

The ECB states that because the sample composition changed substantially, with first-time respondents forming the majority, numerical responses on selling price and inflation expectations are hard to interpret at this stage. It reports that among firms in both rounds these expectations were contained or broadly unchanged, while they rose significantly in the full sample.
